Island Hopping

Sunset Handline Fishing
Try your skills at handline fishing and experience the glittering waters from a local's point of view, aboard a traditional sailing dhoni. This natural technique uses no equipment beyond a single fishing line, held by hand and dropped to the floor of the ocean reef. Wait for the reef fish to bite - a catch is almost guaranteed. Better yet, take your catch onland and our chefs at Fuddan grill will prepare it to your liking the very next day.

Water Sports Centre

If you've seen enough of the reef's spectacular aquatic landscape and wildlife, come up for air and enjoy some of Anantara's water sports, including surfing, sea kayaking or windsurfing across our placid lagoon. For those looking for a bit more adventure, we have our own catamaran available for private charter on an hourly basis.

Snorkel on our adjacent reef. Kayak through the softly rolling waves to nearby islands and sand banks. Sail around the atoll on a catamaran. The Maldives is famous for its perfectly groomed waves that rival some of the best on the planet. But the true beauty of the Maldivian surf is not only its quality but also its variety, which allows surfers of all abilities to find and ride their perfect wave. While at Anantara, take advantage of our Surf school in the heart of the Indian Ocean with a half-day excursion or a one-hour briefer session.

Diving Centre

Diving

While Anantara certainly looks splendid from above the water, in the Maldives, you'll find some of the most beautiful sights are found below the surface. Envelop yourself in a panorama of spectacular marine views on a full-day dive safari guided by the experts from Anantara's own Dive Centre. Or, get your feet wet first with one of our PADI certification courses that will guide you toward taking your first breaths underwater, opening up a whole new world for your discovery.

The Anantara Dive Centre offers two boat dives a day to over 20 nearby reefs teeming with undersea life in the area immediately surrounding our islands. In addition, the Centre runs full and half-day "safari dives" to reefs and sites further afield, reachable by speedboat, as well as night dives - the ultimate scuba experience for avid enthusiasts.

PADI Diving Courses

With such a variety of sites on offer, and our full range of PADI certification courses, our guests are spoiled with choice to meet the needs of all diving levels - from beginners to avid divers with full logbooks! Anantara's instructors always endeavour to match up diving ability to local dive conditions to ensure your safety and enjoyment. From our beginner's discovery courses to more advanced Nitrox, deep water and rescue dives, the Centre has a range of programmes to suit even the most experienced divers.

All courses are taught by PADI-certified instructors, ensuring an unforgettable - and safe - learning experience in one of the world's premier diving destinations. Our class sizes are limited to cater for each guest's needs. Our friendly and professional staff, along with the excellent facilities and open-air classroom of our Indian Ocean paradise, provide the perfect surroundings to explore safely and comfortably.

Orientation Dives

All divers at the Anantara Dive Centre require an orientation dive, unless you have logged a dive within the last three months in Maldives. The orientation dive consists of a dive on our nearby house reef or another local dive site, with an instructor who will get you to demonstrate basic diving skills. After completion, you're ready to move on to more advanced dives or courses, depending on your level and certifications.

Full and Half-Day Diving Safaris

Once you've explored some of our beautiful and action-packed local dive sites, taking in stunning sea fans, colourful coral, schools of fusiliers, sea turtles, and even the occasional reef shark or spotted eagle rays, it's time to take to the high seas for a full or half-day diving safari! The Dive Centre offers regularly scheduled diving safaris by speedboat to a number of exciting locations in North or South Malé Atoll or Felidhu Atoll. Or, feel free to talk to our guides and instructors about setting up a privately chartered excursion just for you!
